- This book presents over 3,400
waypoints (latitude and longitude
coordinates) in the Lake Michigan area.
- Almost 100 handy reference maps show readers where the marine facility waypoints
(marinas, fuel docks, waterfront restaurants, municipal launching
ramps, drawbridges, safety force docks, etc.) are located in
relationship to each other.
- Over 1,400 telephone numbers (twice verified by the author)
make it easy for the reader to call the marine facility operators
for more information.
- Over 1,250 Cruising Bullets denote
the waypoints associated with non-stop cruising.
- It's easy to skip back and forth
across many bodies of water or to work in reverse order of the
book.
-
- The book is divided into the following
five sections:
- Introduction: The tab page displays a map of Lake Michigan bearing
all ports and the page numbers where their waypoints begin. The
text helps the boater to maximize his/her use of the book. It
makes many complex subjects easy to understand.
- Bibliography & Sources of
Information: Boaters will
find it easy to obtain every publication used in the research
and development process of this book. It gives plenty of names
and telephone numbers --- including street, e-mail and World
Wide Web site addresses.
- Waypoint Sheet - Overview:
Use this one page "quick
reference" guide to understand the layout of the 3,400 waypoint
lines.
- Waypoint Sheet - Additional Explanations:
This two page reference guide
builds upon the 13 big numbered items of the "Overview."
- Waypoint Sheet - Abbreviations
& Terminology: This
displays every abreviation in the book and all of the frequently
used terms.
- Index of Communities, Waterways
& Islands: Need
to find a town, island, lake, bay, river, etc.? This will take
you to either a reference map or a waypoint page.
- East
Section of Lake Michigan:
The tab page displays a map of Lake Michigan with four outlines
of the regional maps that cover the East Section from the Straits
of Mackinac to Michigan City, Indiana. The regional maps link
to 31 harbor maps. All maps link to the 31 pages of waypoint
lines. The book details every navigable lake and river that flows
into Lake Michigan.
- West
Section of Lake Michigan:
The tab page displays a map of Lake Michigan with three outlines
of the regional maps that cover the West Section from Burns International
Habor in Indiana to the Porte des Morts Passage at the north
end of Wisconsin's Door Peninsula. The regional maps link to
22 harbor maps. The book details every navigable river that flows
into Lake Michigan.
- North

of the regional maps that cover the North Section. The regional
maps link to 14 supporting maps. The first regional map regional
maps cover the following areas:

the Michigan shoreline into Little Bay de Noc, Big Bay de Noc

Manistique, Michigan and then heads east to the Straits of Mackinac
